I am conducting a final year research study on the effects of juice on cycling performance; I am looking for eight volunteers preferably between 18 – 35 but if you are not within this bracket and would like to take part please to not hesitate to volunteer.
The test will consist of one maximal 60 second test and three 20 minute submaximal tests, each subject will then consume two of three solutions for six days, the solutions will be - beetroot juice, prune juice and a no sugar blackcurrant cordial. The study will last two weeks; each subject will be given a training program and diet plan and must refrain from alcohol for the duration of the study.
All testing will be done on the subjects own bicycle.
All testing will take place in Richhill Recreation Centre on a Thursday night at the beginning of December. (Final dates will be decided upon in the next week).
Any information that is obtained in connection with this study and that can be identified with you will remain confidential and will be disclosed only with your permission. If you decide to participate, you are free to withdraw your consent and discontinue participation at any time without penalty.
I already have some volunteers and am giving you as club members the opportunity to take part in the study, this will also go on to Cycling Ulster website and will be advertised in a few other places, but will be open to you first.
If you’re interested or need any more information on the study can you please let me know as soon as possible ie within the next few days
my email address is simonwilliams31@yahoo.co.uk or you can phone me on the house number which most of you have.
